Q & A with Homeschool Mom: Stacie

I remember when I first came across No Idle Bread, Stacie's blog.  It was refreshing to hear story of transitioning from a public school parent to a homeschooling parent.  Not only does she share her homeschooling story on No Idle Bread, but Stacie is transparent about her faith which is the reason I have been a follower of her site for the past 5 years.  Check out her blog, I can assure you her words are a blessing.

Meet Homeschool Mom, Stacie

Stacie is a daughter of the Most-High God, blessed to have Jesus Christ as her Savior. She is joyfully embracing Biblical womanhood as wife of 15 years to her college sweetheart and Mommy to 7 beautiful children. She spends her days homeschooling her children, with a tune on her lips. She loves the color purple, fall weather, the scent of a good fabric softener, and has a passion for a Christ-centered family. Catch up with Stacie as she shares the pages of her life--the good and the no-so-great, the struggles and the victories—all to the glory of God.

How long have you home educated?

Five years total. We are heading into our 6th year.

How did your family decide to become a homeschooling family?

Our decision was a matter of faith. We used public schools for 3 years prior to homeschooling and we had growing concerns that our family's core values, based on the Truth of God's Word, were not being taught at school. Additionally, the school could not adequately meet our children's academic needs in a way that we felt comfortable with. My husband and I believed all along that the kids' education was our responsibility and pulling them public school to be their primary educators was answering God's call in our roles as parents.

What is your favorite part about home schooling? What helps you to keep going?

My favorite thing about homeschooling is being together each day. I enjoy being with my family and learning alongside each other. What keeps me going is knowing that I'm on the path God has for our family.

What are your struggles with being a home schooling parent?

Some of my struggles are finding other families to identify with and do life with.

Stacie's words of encouragement for you:

Stay rooted in God's Word with daily study. Joy flows from Him. Realize that the atmosphere of the home rests with us, so be mindful of your attitude. Feeling down? Light a candle, or put on some music. Try to do one fun thing each week. Give your kids lots of hugs!

I hope Stacie's words encouraged you as much as they have encouraged me.  Thanks, Stacie, for sharing a bit about your homeschooling journey with us.
