On My Bookshelf:: Money Making Mom by Crystal Paine

As you know, I am a creative entrepreneur so when Crystal Paine from MoneyMakingMom.com latest book, Money-Making Mom: How Every Woman Can Earn More and Make a Difference, was an option to review I decided this just may be a good book for me to review. Money Making Mom shares tidbits of Crystal's stories alongside other women entrepreneur stories.  The goal of the book is to encourage women not solely mothers to move forward in creating their own income sources through creative business outlets including blogging, designing, and offering needed services.  Before I go any further, this book is not a how to blog or get rich quick book.  This book truly is a source of encouragement coupled with guidance on the beginning stages of starting a business.

In ten chapters, Money Saving Mom, had me rejuvenated in my business and eager to continue moving forward.  There are some areas in my business that I struggle with and one of the biggest areas is valuing my skills and effort.  Since I create faith-inspired jewelry, I have a hard time pricing it.  I tend to believebecause it is something that reflects my faith then how can I put value on it, but after reading part of  Crystal's story where she shares a similar struggle I realized that my doubt was steeped in fear of what others would think. She reminded me that although I am offering something simply for the joy, I really do need to be compensated.  Not solely for the sake of money, but because the money from my businesses is used to help my family and community.  This book truly helped me gain a sense of peace in that particular area.

I must include that Crystal is a believer, and this is evident throughout Money-Making Mom: How Every Woman Can Earn More and Make a Difference.  The book begins with discussing financial freedom and challenging the reader to delve into the meaning of what financial freedom is, and it ends with living generously and ways to give.  I appreciate that she values giving back and teaches this in her book along with tips for expanding your thinking and growing your business. 

This book is a great read for any woman business owner or woman who is considering starting her own business whether full-time or supplemental.  It is gentle.  It is accurate.
